The Council of the European Union publishes its Decision on guidelines for the employment policies of the Member States
The Official Journal of the European Union has published Council Decision (EU) 2022/2296 of 21 November 2022 on guidelines for the employment policies of the Member States, aimed at having Member States and the European Union work towards developing a coordinated strategy for employment, so as to promote a skilled, trained and adaptable workforce, as well as labor markets that are future-oriented and responsive to economic change, with a view to achieving the objectives of full employment and social progress, balanced growth, a high level of protection and improvement of the quality of the environment.
The Decision contains a series of guidelines geared towards: (i) boosting the demand for labor, (ii) enhancing labor supply and improving access to employment, lifelong acquisition of skills and competences, (iii) enhancing the functioning of labor markets and the effectiveness of social dialogue, and (iv) promoting equal opportunities for all, fostering social inclusion and fighting poverty.
