Chicago School Of Art Revokes Kanye West’s Honorary Degree

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago has rescinded Kanye West’s honorary doctorate diploma on the school.

The diploma, which was issued to Kanye on Might 11, 2015, was rescinded on Thursday, Dec. 8.

The college shared in an announcement: “The School of the Art Institute of Chicago condemns and repudiates Kanye West’s (now know as Ye) anti-Black, antisemitic, racist, and harmful statements, significantly these directed at Black and Jewish communities.

“Ye’s actions don’t align with SAIC’s mission and values, and we’ve rescinded his honorary diploma.”

NewzAcid shared a letter from SAIC despatched to members of the workers and scholar physique concerning the rapper and his anti-Semitic feedback.

The letter arrived 4 days after college students made a change.org petition calling for the removing of Ye’s honorary doctorate.

“After listening to from lots of you, and conferring with the Board of Governors, the honorary diploma awarded to Kanye West has been rescinded,” the letter, written by president Elissa Tenny learn.
