Drake’s $18 million engagement ring necklace is a tribute to his 42 exes

Drake loves bling. And not just the Hotline kind that sent him soaring up the charts back in 2016. He can’t get enough of spangly neckgear, pimped-up wrist gear and in-your-face, bigger-is-better rings. He’s got an OVO owl pendant, designed by jeweller to the stars Ben Baller, that features ice-blue diamond eyes and bright pink diamond accents on its golden wings. He’s got a one-of-one $100,000 gold-and-diamond Stone Island medallion, which is nothing when compared to the mad expensive Homer garb he stans—a dazzling cut VSS diamond necklace comes with an eye-watering sticker price of £1,983,744 ($3,605,000 AUD) and he has a matching 41.23-carat bracelet, worth £219,955 ($400,000 AUD). A serious “Rich Flex”.
Now Drake’s flaunting another piece of jewellery, which might well outdo anything else he has in his overfilled jewel case. Taking to the stage at the Lil Baby & Friends Birthday Celebration Concert at State Farm Arena in Atlanta this week, the Honestly, Nevermind rapper debuted a brand new necklace, which is made up of 42 diversely sized engagement rings equating to 351.38 carats in diamonds. Masssive!

The piece, which is a limited edition number that goes by the name “Previous Engagements” (sounds like one of his albums, yep) uses the round, emerald, princess and pear-cut diamonds stones Drake has previously bought for the 42 times he thought about proposing to a woman (Rihanna, Jorja Smith, Julia Fox, Sophie Brussaux—we’re looking at you). Yep, Aubrey is in his feelings. Again.
While the rapper has remained tight-lipped about the sparkly creation, jewellery designer Alex Moss has been vocal. It was “an expedition spanning 14 months, every diamond hand selected, inspected to only suit perfection,” he explained via an Instagram Reel. “This monumental art piece was assembled using 351.38 carats of diamonds mounted in 18k white gold. New piece titled ‘Previous Engagements’ for all the times he thought about it but never did it.”
So how much does the piece cost? Zack Stone, the UK-based jewellery designer over at Steven Stone, has said that while it’s “difficult to estimate a striking piece like this, particularly without information about the quality, it looks to be worth approximately $12.5 million USD” Normal.
