Mama June’s ex, Geno Doak, relapses after 9 months in rehab
Mama June’s ex-boyfriend Geno Doak reportedly relapsed after completing a nine-month stint in rehab.
The troubled reality TV star, who left a South Carolina rehab facility in June, said TMZ that he “regrettably” returned to alcohol last week, interfering with his journey to sobriety.
Doak said he hasn’t had a sip of alcohol since the mishap and is determined to get back on track.
While he has no plans to return to rehab this time around, he told TMZ that he is committed to attending AA meetings regularly.
As previously reported, Doak said he lost around 70 pounds during a six-month stay in rehab in February, noting that the cleanse helped him change his lifestyle dramatically.
“They cook meals for you, so it’s on a better eating schedule anyway. I don’t snack at night,” he explained to TMZ at the time. “Of course I don’t go out and eat fast food, stuff like that.”
Doak checked into rehab in September 2021 after a brief hospitalization in Fort Pierce, Florida. He was then committed to a South Carolina convalescence center, which he left in June after completing his internship.
Doak first started dating Mama June, 43, in 2015 before rekindling their romance in 2016. Since then, the two have been on and off for several years until the reality show star they unplugged their romance for good in August 2021.
June and Doak in particular made headlines after they were arrested together at a gas station in Alabama in 2019 following a domestic dispute that resulted in Doak being sentenced to 16 months in Macon Community Corrections.
The ‘Mama June: From Not to Hot’ star is dating Justin Stroud. The couple secretly married in March in a Georgia courthouse after less than a year of dating.
